Why listen?

February 3rd, 2009 by Matthew Volkov

People listen to music for a multitude of different reasons. With that said, I really don’t think there’s a “correct” or “wrong” way or reason to listen to music. For some people, music is just noise that is kept in the background the majority of the time. On the other end of the spectrum, there are people who listen to music for the entire experience; people who focus completely on the music and ignore whatever else they’re doing.

A lot of people, myself included, fall somewhere in between. In the end, it really doesn’t matter where you fall on the spectrum, because music should be whatever the individual wants it to be.

From here on out my update will definitely become more tangible articles, but I thought it was important to at least outline, very briefly, the reasons for listening to music.
