Put your two cents in

April 21st, 2009 by John G. Roman III

With another semester coming to an end and a new class of seniors about to embark on that journey we refer to as life, I can’t help but think of the mark that they will leave on this University. I myself know that I would like to leave some sort of impression by the time I graduate and hopefully have it be a good one. I feel like the worst thing to have in life can be regret – regret for not trying your hardest, regret for partying when you should have been studying or maybe regret for studying when you should have been partying. However, regret is usually something that has to do with the past, something you should or should not have done and something you cannot get back to.

Don’t let not having an integral role in your campus be something you regret. There is still and will always be time for you to “put your two cents in.” So I encourage all of you, not just seniors, to really help improve this place. I’m sure many of you have picked up on the theme of this blog, bettering our campus. Well, sometimes the University cannot fix what it does not know is broken. I encourage all of you to really voice your opinions and suggestions; there is no better time for the school to get things accomplished than the summer. Don’t forget to approach your senators, your new president or vice-president or even your advisor. I know it sounds redundant, but change does not occur on its own. Even if it is as simple as getting new trash cans for the Pit, you still made a difference. Even if it is creating a River Campus group that allows for suggestions to be voiced and then forwarded to the proper channels, you’ve taken the right steps. So, be that person that inspires change.
