In honor of Meliora weekend, here’s our list of what we think UR is doing right (and not so right) when it comes to the alumni community.
CHEERS to the expansion of the UR Involved program, providing alumni with a meaningful way to give back to the University without making a financial contribution.
JEERS to the College Annual Fund for calling nonstop for donations young alumni can’t afford.
CHEERS to University Communications for posting beautiful pictures of the school on Twitter every Friday.
JEERS to the high price of Meliora weekend tickets. It’s hard to afford, especially since most of us have to travel.
CHEERS to UR’s role in the launch of Futurity.org., which makes it easier for alumni to keep up with current research in their fields.
CHEERS to the development of the Rochester Alumni Exchange, a step in the right direction for keeping alumni connected around the world.
JEERS to the lack of a University-wide, online, alumni directory. Limiting the online directory by school prevents collaboration across fields and disciplines.
CHEERS to the Office of Alumni relations for continuing regional programming, despite limited economic resources.
JEERS for the lack of creativity in regional alumni programming. Happy hours can get old.
CHEERS to the increased use of social networking sites by alumni organizations, like Facebook and LinkedIn.
JEERS to the College of Arts, Sciences and Engineering for not allowing alumni VPN access to the River Campus library system. Lots of other universities offer this.
CHEERS to the Campus Times for their blogs, helping to keep alumni, who are mostly online readers, up-to-date with UR happenings.
