The UR squash team went in seeded as No. 3 and were expected to play against the No. 2 home team in the semi-final. And we did play them, but based on the crowd and atmosphere, it was us who were enjoying a home court advantage.

Winter Break in the Warmth
February 13th, 2010 by Hameed Ahmed
After spending 10 days on the British Virgin Islands training and playing, the squash team returned to Rochester early January to start the second half of the season. This was a pretty unique winter break for most of us, as only a few guys went home to see friends and family over Christmas time. No one really complained about that though…
Team traditions taught and changed
December 4th, 2009 by Hameed Ahmed
The Liberty League weekend usually means two things for the squash team. One, it’s the season opener, and two, it is the first team trip for the freshmen. Therefore, it’s a kind of learning experience for them about how certain things work within the team.
The biggest tradition and game played within the team is RPS …
The girls’ team

UR hosted its first squash home match of the season last Saturday but it wasn’t a normal season opener. Instead of the boys’ varsity team playing, it was the new girls’ club team that challenged a team from William Smith.

September 29th, 2009 by Hameed Ahmed
The squash team is back from summer break and so is this blog. It’s going to be a very special season for the team, as we finished third in the nation last year and our aim, obviously, is to go on and win the national title this year. However, the task is challenging.
For the …
Team banquet
April 23rd, 2009 by Hameed Ahmed
As we do after every season, the UR men’s squash team had a season ending dinner and banquet last week. This was actually my first one ever as I couldn’t attend last year’s banquet due to a tournament.
I was expecting it to be a nice and memorable event but it turned out to be even …
Pros were in town
April 9th, 2009 by Hameed Ahmed
If you happened to stop by the squash courts last weekend, you might have seen a surprisingly big crowd and world-class squash down there. The professional tournament was a success in terms of both squash and showing the players a good time at UR.
As our team is very international, a lot of the visiting pros …
Season is over — or not quite…
March 19th, 2009 by Hameed Ahmed
The squash season is now officially over. Well, at least the college season. Some of us still have national tournaments in our home countries, and there is also a pro tournament here on campus in two weeks.
The Rochester pro tournament has been growing every year, and this year’s tournament is the biggest ever hosted by …
